Share Six – Restore – March 2017

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.”

Restoration: an act of renewing to a former condition.  There is definitely a place in the world for restoration and bringing objects back to a new state. Often times when we look at things pilling up that are old, rusty, have missing parts, and aren’t working we seem to think its just a pile of junk and needs to be thrown out.  And sometimes that is very true.  But, more often than not, if you were to ask the owner of that “pile of junk” there are “very useful and valuable things in there”.  And most likely, there is.  A good friend of mine has recently acquired a piece of land where there is about to be lots of restoration.  There is a good amount of treasures and valuables but also some junk and building that are falling apart. As I was taking these photos, my good friend was super excited that I was documenting the way things are now.  As they work on the land and begin to give it a new life, they want to remember it how it was in the beginning.

With all that being said, there is such beauty in old things.  When I walked around that day photographing it was like a wonderland!  Every way I turned there was something beautiful to capture!  I could have stayed out there all day!  I am hoping to find some more time out there soon and to document the land and my friend’s story as they give this place a new beginning.

I have joined a group of photographers, Share Six, who will be blogging 6 images each month. Each month is a different theme.  Please click HERE to see Tori of Roots and Twigs Photography’s interpretation of this months theme.

Join us for this month’s theme by posting your Restore images on our Facebook page at Share Six and to our Instagram gallery,  by tagging #sharesix and #sharesix_restore.  A new theme will come out on April 6th.
